Process
Whether it's a painting, a collage or a piece of jewelry: I'm looking for that moment of recognition. A little jolt of joy, a "yes" feeling. Then I know it's good.
Paintings
I start with a white canvas and paint. First I create a base with an almost accidental composition. I often use large pieces of cardboard in all sorts of shapes for an initial layout. The canvas lies flat on the table. I apply thin paint with brushes, cloths and cardboard, and sometimes I pour the paint and let it run.
I always work with oil paint, so drying takes a few days. In the meantime, I work on other paintings.
Once the base is dry, I look very closely at the canvas and look for something that intrigues or moves me. That's where I begin, and I try to hold on to it and give it form. Sometimes that works right away, but usually it disappears again and I look for a new focus. I keep going until I feel that surprise again and everything falls into place.

Collages
Making collages is playing with chance. I have boxes full of old scraps of paper, photos, little drawings and found pieces from other things. With a piece of cardboard and a bit of glue, I slide, place and remove until something appears that gives me a "yes" feeling.
Sometimes I still don't think it's good enough and I push on a little further. Now and then it becomes even stronger.
What I love about it: I really need nothing more than a square meter to sit on, a bit of glue and paper.
Jewelry
I always make my jewelry from natural materials: freshwater pearls, natural stone, ceramics, shells, glass, wood and felt. Sometimes I use brass wire or silver components; mostly I thread the beads on coated steel wire in the color of the beads.
I am mainly interested in color effects and unexpected combinations. I mostly make necklaces, often with matching earrings. I buy beads wherever I go, and sometimes I make them myself, for example from felt or casting resin.
More and more often I make silver jewelry especially for someone, sometimes for a particular occasion. I also make those to order.
Photography
Most of my photos I keep for myself or use as a source of inspiration. But sometimes a photo has so much expressive power that I want to show it too.
